IMPORTANT NOTICE – CHANGES TO CREDIT CARD PROCESSING - 1st AUGUST 2019
Posted by Support Team on 04 July 2019 11:14 AM

On the 1st August 2019, OzHosting.com will be switching to a new Payment Gateway provider which will allow us to deliver some exciting platform upgrades throughout the new year.

As part of the switch to the new Payment Gateway provider, you will be required to update your OzHosting.com Account by adding your Credit Card details once again. When the credit card is added again it will create a "secure token" which will be used for processing future payments.

As we will then only hold the token issued by your bank, we will no longer ID customers by asking for “last 4 digits of card” as we will no longer hold this information. Failure to update your OzHosting.com account after the change has been implemented will result in orders and renewals failing to provision.

You will receive a notification sent via email to confirm once the new Credit Card Processing changes have been implemented so you can then login and update your account.

If you have provided a Mobile number on your OzHosting.com Account, you will receive an SMS to remind you to log into your account to update add your Credit Card.

Please Note: Changes need to be done after 1st August 2019

If you have any questions regarding the upcoming changes to the Payment Gateway please send an email to accounts@ozhosting.com or call +61.289162100

Posted by Support Team on 04 January 2017 03:57 PM

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: Domain name transfer | Registrar Update

Due to recent corporate restructure, Melbourne IT (OzHosting.com's .au domain partner) will transfer its partner business to TPP Wholesale, another member of the Melbourne IT Group.

As part of this move we are required to formally change the Registrar of Record on domains registered via Melbourne IT on 08/02/2017. TPP Wholesale will become the new Registrar of Record and OzHosting.com will continue to manage the domains for you.

Affected domain owners will shortly receive an email from Melbourne IT to inform of the upcoming changes.

This transfer will be completed automatically with no disruption to existing services and no action is required from our affected customers.

There will be no costs incurred as part of this transfer, or changes made to any details relating to the domain name(s) (other than the 'registrar of record' for your domain name).

Please note that all registrars must comply with the .au Domain Name Suppliers' Code of Practice and the auDA's transfers policy.

As per auDA requirements, Melbourne IT will send a reminder email seven (7) days prior to the transfer.

If you have any questions associated with this transfer, please contact us via email support@ozhosting.com or call +61.289162100

OzHosting are teaming Up with DropMySite!
Posted by Ben Paterson on 18 January 2016 10:40 AM

At OzHosting we know how vital your website is to the growth and sustainability of your business!
Your website may have been created many years ago and is now the accumulation of countless edits and additions to content.
That makes it very valuable, particularly when you add the cost of its creation to the cost of all the amendments!

So, how well are you protecting this investment?
If it was compromised 15 days ago, could you recover a complete copy of the last "good" version from 16 days ago?
If you cannot answer "yes!" to that question, read on...

OzHosting.com have have teamed up with the good people at Dropmysite to provide a service where you can do exactly that; recover your complete website files from a choice of multiple restore points.

Dropmysite provides a simple and easy to use interface for users to back-up your website and database. To back-up your website, all you need to do is enter your FTP or SFTP details and backups will be scheduled on a daily basis, how easy is that?

Databases can also be backed up by providing the hostname and the database username and password to connect to the server. Daily backups of the database will be taken to ensure you never lose your data again, and yes Dropmysite support MySQL Servers making it 100% compatible with your current OzHosting hosting plan.

“If my website goes down, is it difficult to retrieve my files from Dropmysite?”

Not difficult at all, Dropmysite has an easy to use one-click download feature that lets you access your back-up anytime and anywhere. Website backups are available as zipped files using the tar format for easy migration to any compatible web-hosting platform. Retrieving lost data or website files has never been simpler!

“Are my files secure with Dropmysite?”
Of course! Dropmysite pays special attention to ensure that your backups are secure while backing up and when stored on our servers. Dropmysite ensures that the connection to your database is secure and all the backup data is encrypted using AES 256 encryption block cipher on servers we have located in a separate data centre to our website hosting platform. Both data centres are in Sydney.

"Can OzHosting.com Set This Up for me?"
If your website is hosted with us, then yes we can and it only costs $25 to set up and can then tick over at $3.00/month.
If not hosted with us we need the login credentials for your website, the setup cost is $35 and will take a little longer to complete.

If you are having trouble with your DropMySite, please view out Knowledge Base Articles for DIY solutions.

If you have any further questions please contact our friendly Support Team on (02) 8916 2100 - Opt #2

Please note; Our support are able to take care of this service for you as a Professional Service and will incur an additional one-off-payment fee

WordPress 4.1.2 Security Release
Posted by Support Team on 29 April 2015 03:07 PM

WordPress 4.1.2 is now available. This is a critical security release for all previous versions and we strongly encourage you to update your sites immediately.

WordPress versions 4.1.1 and earlier are affected by a critical cross-site scripting vulnerability, which could enable anonymous users to compromise a site. This was reported by Cedric Van Bockhaven and fixed by Gary Pendergast, Mike Adams, and Andrew Nacin of the WordPress security team.

We also fixed three other security issues:

  • In WordPress 4.1 and higher, files with invalid or unsafe names could be uploaded. Discovered by Michael Kapfer and Sebastian Kraemer of HSASec.
  • In WordPress 3.9 and higher, a very limited cross-site scripting vulnerability could be used as part of a social engineering attack. Discovered by Jakub Zoczek.
  • Some plugins were vulnerable to an SQL injection vulnerability. Discovered by Ben Bidner of the WordPress security team.

We also made four hardening changes, discovered by J.D. Grimes, Divyesh Prajapati, Allan Collins, Marc-Alexandre Montpas and Jeff Bowen.

We appreciated the responsible disclosure of these issues directly to our security team. For more information, see the release notes or consult the list of changes.

Download WordPress 4.1.2 or venture over to Dashboard → Updates and simply click “Update Now.” Sites that support automatic background updates are already beginning to update to WordPress 4.1.2.

A number of plugins also released security fixes yesterday. Keep everything updated to stay secure. If you’re a plugin author, please read this post to confirm that your plugin is not affected by the same issue. Thank you to all of the plugin authors who worked closely with our security team to ensure a coordinated response.
